I am reading that there is a reseurgence of interest in the DVD-A and DTS Muscis CD's because the high res sound formats for Blu Ray has shown the 'MP3 Generation' what GREAT sound one can get. The low end is a bit weak so I am having a car audio shop add a powered sub to bring up the low end. That 14 speaker Bose system REALY sounds great and with that high resolution music, it is quite something to hear. However, this M45 is the first car I have ever owned where I did not want to rip out the sound system and replace it. My now deceased Charger SRT8 had a factory installed powered sub in the trunk and really good front/back speakers, which was quite good on CD's. I was totally blown away at how great the sound system in my car sounded. Imagine my surprise that when I tried both format discs in the player in my M45X, The info displayed the proper 5.1 channels and the bit width of 20 bits/MLP. If you have never heard High resolution surround sound music, you will be amazed at how great it sounds. Unfortuanately, time moved on and home theater took over and I had no way to play them on the equipment in my house (except the Dolby Digital track they always added). Mosts DVD-audio's are 20 bit words sampled at 96Khz as opposed to traditional CD's which are 16/44Khz so they have an AMAZING sound quality. To my really pleasant surprise, I found that the DVD player in the the M45X will play both of the formats and in full 5.1 surround format. I was piling up a large selection of DVD-Audio Discs and DTS Music CD's until around 2004 when they kind of died out, some say it was the beginning of MP3's which killed off the interest in the market. I am still finding out how all the stuff works in it and when I opened the console I was quite surprised to see a DVD Player in it. I have only had my 2008 M45X for about a month (see my intro post in the intro section)
